These are truly handmade wines in the beautiful and remote hills of Abruzzo. Unlike the mediocre, mass-produced Montepulciano wines of the region, this is distinct and singular. Made in a super traditional style. All the wines are released with significant age. Emidio Pepe's wines have gained cult following. Bea Montefalco Sagrantino Vigneto Pagliaro
We’re not worthy! Paolo Bea’s wines should have been served at the Last Supper. This small estate produces wine, grows olives, fruits, vegetables and raises farm animals. To this day, the Beas produce much of what they consume on a daily basis...no farmer’s market for them. All grapes are harvested manually. Derived from the Italian meaning drink of the gods, the Sagrantino grape explodes with cherry on the nose and gives way to dark chocolate and wet earth on the palate. Drink this now or keep for your tenth anniversary.

The Roagna family has been making wine since the 1800s. In 1990 they purchased 2 small plots in the renowned vineyard site of Castiglione Falletto in Barolo: La Rocca and La Pira. It came with a 15th century farmhouse, which they renovated into Casa Roagna, a bed and breakfast overlooking the vines. Bliss. Luigi Ferrando Carema "Nera"
A Barolo by any other name...This is a beautifully crafted expression of Nebbiolo from the very northern reaches of Italy. Still tightly wound, it has a hint of anise and truffle on the nose, followed by bright cherry fruit. It's beginning to show leather and earth which will develop further is it ages. This wine is drinking well now (decant it for an hour or so before drinking), but will be even better in five years. A true gem, and a wine we're proud to carry.
