Pittnauer is run by the young Brigit and Gerhard Pittnauer, who have been considered benchmark producers and specialists of the Austrian varietal St. Laurent and Pinot Noir. This special blend of Blaufrankisch and Zweigelt is lovely and ripe with blackcurrent, floral notes, and a bit of spicy meatiness. Moderate acidity and a touch of tannic grip on the finish, this wine can be both serious and playful, but no doubt a great value.
Bright and spicy, Zweigelt is a very friendly red that goes with a wide variety of foods. Medium bodied with red fruits and earth on the nose, it follows with cherry, plum and a hint of black pepper on the palate. A great summer red, it goes with all sorts of barbecued meats and would even pair wit grilled salmon. If you haven't tried Zweigelt, you should, it's a great go-to, everyday pleasure of a wine! Winemaking Details:
Martinshof is run by Michi Martin, one of the most dedicated winemakers you're likely to meet. Michi's passion for his homeland's champion grape is boundless, and he turns that passion into some of the freshest and tastiest Grüner around. Fresh, with clean citrus fruit and spirited acidty, you'll be glad that this one comes in a liter bottle (a full third more wine than a standard 750ml)!
The winery was founded in 1992 by Birgit Eichinger and her husband Christian. Her viticultural goal is "to optimize the natural aroma and flavor potential inherent in the grapes, matching varietals and terrain, practicing careful vineyard management and applying painstaking vinification." all the while respecting the "Less is More" natural principle. Her passion and dedication come through in her wines. This wine shows spice and floral notes on the nose, with yellow plum, apple and a bit of white pepper on the palate. With its mouth watering acidity, it goes down very easy.
