You Don't Have to Say it, Just Drink it!
Txakolina (pronounced chock-oh-LEE-nah) comes from the Getaria region of northern Spain. This is Basque country where they know a bit about hot weather, and this wine is a great way to beat the heat.
This week, we are featuring a delicious rosé version (Txakolina is usually a white wine) from the Ameztoi Winery, one of the region's most respected producers. The winery is run by Ignacio Ameztoi, the seventh generation to carry on the tradition of making Txakolina in the province of Getaria. Made from the indigenous grape variety of Hondarribi Zurri and its red companion Hondarribi Beltza, the wine is fermented in stainless steel and bottled with residual carbonation that gives the wine its natural spritz. Beautiful light pink in color, the wine is crisp and light with strawberries and floral aromas. It is wonderfully refreshing and bright with citrus on the palate with effervescent finish. Simply delicious and gulpable!
Txakolina is perfect with all sorts of vegetables which are now in great abundance at the farmer's market around the corner, so why not pick up some of your favorites to pair with this delicious rosé?
