Winter Warmer

La Sacristie de la Vielle Cure $19.99

Now that winter is back, it is time for a hearty red, and La Sacristie de la Vielle Cure is becoming quite a favorite of ours. It is a textbook Bordeaux with a bit of graphite and leather on the nose, followed by red berries on the palate and reasonable tannins. It is an approachable, lovely young wine with plenty of fruit, while still maintaining its sense of place. And what a place! With 50 acres in a single plot, Chateau La Vieille Cure has been making wine in the same location for 350 years. They make their wines in a classic style with hand-harvested fruit, but what sets them apart is their practice of organic farming- a true rarity in this region. It is a great example of what makes this famous wine region unique.
